Tell us about your journey?
Loren: Weirdly, we were talking about that this morning… It feels as if everything we were doing before was our Rocky training montage to prepare us for this company. #eyeofthetiger. I came from comedy + TV development in London, but my dream since I was about 10 was to own a production company - so I’m over the moon that the industry is making room for people like me.
Todd: I started making videos with friends when I was a teenager - and no matter how silly or stupid they were, we would love watching and making more. Then of course, I had to do the adult thing and get a job so I worked in broadcast for a while, then I worked in entertainment, and yes those were all great opportunities - but all I ever wanted to do was collaborate and get better at filmmaking. It was my hunger to close that gap which brought me full circle [which I’m so grateful for].
What's your favorite part of your day? We’ve got different answers for this one.
Todd: Collaborating. Seeing how something evolves from an idea, then transforms into something even greater than what we could have possibly imagined. People surprise you, and we’re so lucky to be have the opportunity to collaborate with such talented people.
Loren: I like lunch. And the part of your morning where the opportunities are endless that moment you just sit down for you day and you think ‘let’s go get this bread.’
When do you feel most successful? When we've pushed ourselves to take something a step further than what we thought we could. People are naturally lazy, so sometimes it’s easier to think inside the box and make that commercial set in a living room with a mom and a dad and baby and blah blah blah - but it’s when we dream big + commit is where success lies. Even if you have zero idea how to make it happen - dreaming big is where it starts.
What do you do to recharge when you’re feeling drained? Wine, we do wine.
What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started as an entrepreneur? You’re going to fail. A lot. Enjoying the failure [it’s actually quite fun]. Life’s too short - figure it out and have fun while you do it.
How do you optimize your day? We have a meeting every morning sharing our top priorities so we can keep each other and ourselves accountable for the day. This works for the big and little stuff so we know who’s tackling what in every aspect.
Who is the person/people who allowed you to imagine more?
Loren: Lucille Ball - hands down. For my whole life people have been telling me about barriers I’m going to come up against as a woman in the industry. All the things ‘I can’t achieve’. But every time they’d tell me that I’d refer to Lucy and say but that didn’t stop her.
Todd: My mom - she didn’t really get her career started til she was 40. And for the past 25 years, she’s been working as an art teacher for some pretty rough inner city schools and she’s inspiring them every day. Even through cancer she didn’t miss a day of work because she knew the importance of giving these kids a chance.
What does imagining more mean to you and your story? We’re all about imagining more, our mission is to not just tell stories but make impressions. And the only way to do that is to imagine more.
If you could do more of one thing every day what would it be? Learning - whether it’s for the business or for our personal goals. Whether it’s learning how to use a new production software, how to speak mandarin, or learning that there are no muscles in your hands [crazy, right?!] The possibilities are endless for constant daily improvement.
