Tell us about your journey? Upon graduating from Agnes Scott College with degrees in Women Studies and French, my focus was to find a way to empower women to live authentic, healthy and stylish lives... and pay my bills using this skill set! After abandoning the idea of becoming a midwife, I started selling a trunk-show line of jewelry in July 2011. At trunk shows I would hear women express their concerns about their bodies or their lifestyles and why they felt they couldn't wear certain trends or styles. Hearing these down-trodden discussions about body image and self-worth from women of all ages, sizes, income levels and races was huge. Style Therapy was born as a way to reach women in a unique and intimate one-on-one setting through in-home personal styling. Recognizing the power of self-inquiry, I established my second brand, intentionally Gray in July 2018. intentionally Gray exists to support both men and women in their personal development journeys. Each curated workshop is rooted in an intentionally Gray theme that leads individuals to reclaim dignity, restore love of Self and lean into personal truths.
What what's your favorite part of your day? Every day is so very different! I suppose some of my favorite types of days are when I get to work with the women who have been with me for many years. The women I've been working with the longest know me and I know them so, so well. Everything is pure flow with these women. There's a beautiful brilliance and energy that exists based on our shared experience together.
When do you feel most successful? When incredible opportunities open up for my clients based on the internal and external shifts that they have made through our work together.
What do you do to recharge when you’re feeling drained? I love Swatch Box Beauty! I go for my nails, facials and body scrubs. While I eat quite healthily, I know that toxins store up in the body and get stuck there if I'm not actively flushing out my system. I go to Redefine by Nina (inside of Swatch Box Beauty) for "lymphatic drainage" to help with eliminating inflammation -- also built up from the amount I work out! Nina is marvelous and so knowledgeable; I leave feeling lighter and like I've done something fantastic for my body. Also, sleep. Sleep is great.
What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started as an entrepreneur? It's a marathon not a sprint, young grasshopper.
How do you optimize your day? I wear an Apple watch that alerts me when I receive a text. Other than that, I have zero notifications turned on on my phone -- no DM's, likes or even emails. Keeping the texts on my wrist allows me to discern if it's urgent to respond to or if it can wait until I pick my phone up again.
Who is the person/people who allowed you to imagine more? I hired two business coaches two years ago -- Wes Knight and Lo Myrick -- and they really lit into me about my potential as a public speaker and presenter. I'm now using those presenting skills at intentionally Gray workshops and to deliver powerful Styling seminars to big companies like BumbleBizz and Delta. Secondly, my most recent coach: Dani Dillard. Dani aides people in aligning with their Souls. I'm already there in alignment but she has really helped me get into my heart to dissolve what disbelief is present. If you don't believe in your potential FULLY, you'll always have blockages in the way of creating the life you desire.
What does imagining more mean to you and your story? If something exists, a title, a home, a relationship, a look, even an idea, then why shouldn't it belong to or exist for you? Limits are completely constructed within the confines of our minds. Instead of looking at opportunities from an "I wish I had that" standpoint, I stand back and say, "I can create that _______."
If you could do more of one thing every day what would it be? Dance. Or rest. I'd like to dance more but I need to rest more. I'm working on scheduling in more of both!
