Tell us about your journey. I come from a family of businessmen and women. Both my father's side and mother's side love business. I started my career working on my weakness: Sales. I was scared of the phone, and after 2 years of inside sales love it. Then I started small, and with the help of Amazon, grew Okabashi and Oka-b web business 3x over 3 years. Having had some success, I helped Matt and Steve with Country Club Prep. Then I decided to get on the startup-bandwagon and start PeachDish. Shantel helped me out with Social media, and customers from all around the country helped us develop PeachDish to become the best quality meal kit company. After a year I found Judith Winfrey who agreed to come and lead me on this adventure, as I am no culinary expert. We have been fortunate to have a great culinary team, and developed an excellent reputation, infrastructure and team, yet maintain a family environment.
What's your favorite part of your day? Waking up in the morning to birds outside and having freshly squeezed orange juice. Coming home and cooking a PeachDish Meal. Lastly, making people smile.
When do you feel most successful? I feel most successful when I have made a sale or empowered a team person to learn, or push boundaries. I love making impossible dreams come true. What we do with food and logistics, UPS thought it was impossible, yet we have achieved it. We are able to approach our logistics like Amazon. I also love to learn from others. My sister has taken over the shoe business and is growing it well. She just launched a new brand, Third Oak.
What do you do to recharge when you’re feeling drained? I have started to do Tai Chi. It helps me meditate, and I have learned a lot from my business partner, Judith Winfrey, about the importance of listening.
What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started as an entrepreneur? Starting a business is not easy. It is always a rollercoaster.
How do you optimize your day? I optimize my day by leveraging my calendar. I love to try and keep meetings to 20 minutes or less.
Who is the person/people who allowed you to imagine more? My business partner is a godsend. She has allowed me to focus on more creative items, as I am not good at operations. It is good to focus on what you are good at.
What does imagining more mean to you and your story? Imagining more reminds me of Shantel and Margot, who helped me when I started my first year. I was their second customer, and hope to be so, but it did not work out with our workflow. My favorite memory is Shantel and Margot cooking quail at a PeachDish Board Meeting. When I started I put a lot of smart and good looking people on my website to make the team appear bigger and attract talent.
If you could do more of one thing every day what would it be? I wish I could give back more to others. I give back financially, to UNICEF, Families First, and others. We have to be thankful for all that we have and give back. I wish I was a better photographer, and am learning snap-chat from my awesome girlfriend, @figgythefox.
