Tell us about your journey? I moved to New York right after college to pursue a career in fashion. My first job was at a communications agency, as an EA in the Casting division. I assisted in casting models and celebrities for fashion and lifestyle campaigns. I was also freelancing on the side for a handbag forum and blog running all of their social media, and it was during that time I realized I had a real passion for the social and digital space. After working my way up to Associate Casting Director at the communications agency, I left to work for the handbag blog full time, spearheading their social media efforts. After two years of getting to really know the social space, I decided to take an opportunity to help lead an influencer division at a social agency. The division has since grown into it's own media company, where I currently oversee the Brand Partnerships team.
What what's your favorite part of your day? I'm a night owl my nature, but have learned to really appreciate my mornings. The gym has become a somewhat of a sanctuary for me. It's the one hour a day I dedicate to myself, without interruption. It's really changed the way I approach each day.
When do you feel most successful? Seeing our work come to life and being able to see the team grow during that process. I love being able to see a project go from an idea to something fully produced. The digital and social space is always evolving, so every project has new challenges, but it's so rewarding to be able to have built a team you trust wholeheartedly to be able to tackle those challenges and find solutions.
What do you do to recharge when you’re feeling drained? I'm such a homebody, so staying home for me is the best medicine. I read a lot and have been trying to take up new hobbies like calligraphy and lettering.
What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started as an entrepreneur? Don't go at it alone. Keep learning. It's okay to fail.
How do you optimize your day? Starting my day at the gym is essential for a productive morning. I get most of my work done in the mornings or at night, because my day is typically filled with meetings and client calls. Every morning I make a list of things I need to get done ranked in order of priority, so I make sure to tackle the most pressing things first.
Who is the person/people who allowed you to imagine more? I'm consistently inspired by the people I surround myself with - friends, family, coworkers, mentors. They support me, challenge me and inspire me every single day. I also love listening and reading other people's stories of how they got started.
What does imagining more mean to you and your story? Getting to where I am today came with taking a lot of risks, having to challenge myself to step outside my comfort zone and ultimately believing in myself. My story is just beginning, so imagining more means continuing to learn, continuing to grow as a person - both personally and professionally and continuing to challenge myself.
If you could do more of one thing every day what would it be? Inspire people.
