LinkedIn has announced a new update that includes an essential algorithm change for users. Recently, they noticed less engagement on feeds which has led to fewer people posting updates. This caused bigger companies to consume user’s feeds which is not the end goal. Users tend to want to see posts from people they know on their feeds rather than top competitors.
This was not an easy problem for the company to solve since they don’t want to take away popular content while giving other businesses a chance to have a voice. However, by creating an algorithm that would keep both elements in check, LinkedIn has seen notable improvements. Since the update, LinkedIn saw an increase in returning ‘posters’ and a larger interaction between users.
While they still have a long way to go, LinkedIn has found a temporary answer to their engagement problem. They will need to continue monitoring engagement and initiating updates in order to help users reach a larger audience and stay ahead of the game, but they appear to be on the right track.
