Tell us about your journey: I signed a record deal in college. I asked the producer, "how does one become a music producer?" He said, "tell people you're a music producer." That led to a 7-year career making music for a living. It was my dream job and I absolutely loved it. I never spent a penny on marketing, yet the business grew every year entirely based on word-of-mouth referrals. I wished there was a way to thank my friends for sharing because it was so valuable. I also noticed it sometimes took weeks/months/years for people to make a referral in an arbitrary conversation. Why not more like...immediate! Ha.
"There must be a better way..."
After flying home from the Grammy's and feeling inspired, I was sitting on my couch in the living room when the proverbial bolt of lightning struck. This was nowhere close to an ideal time to have a career change, especially with baby #3 on the way. Yet, we jumped. We even burned the boats and parted with the studio we built over 10 years.
This was the birth of Yaystack; a platform that rewards for sharing. With offers and donations unlocked by sharing on social media, brands have a powerful way to expand their reach, give back to their community, and do good as well. We are working with truly remarkable brands and grateful to be experiencing exciting growth.
What what's your favorite part of your day? Right when I wake up
When do you feel most successful? On the trampoline with my kids
What do you do to recharge when you’re feeling drained? I yell "this is Sparta!!" and kick whatever's around me. Just kidding. I do a few mindfulness exercises and something light to get my heart rate up.
What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started as an entrepreneur? That I can
How do you optimize your day? Planning the day before and asking "what's the ONE Thing I can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?" (from the ONE Thing)
Who is the person/people who allowed you to imagine more? All my friends who told their friends about my music production. They inspired what I do today.
What does imagining more mean to you and your story? I had a good friend of mine who is an accomplished artist ask me why I quit music when she saw how passionate I was about it. I told her "vision." I simply had a new vision for my life and wanted to create more value for more people. I believe God gives us visions, and it's up to us whether to do anything with them. To me, Imagining More means to pursue those visions; to see exactly where you want to go and have enough boldness to actually go there; to live up to far more than your peers' expectations of you; and to give more of yourself than you once thought possible.
